Rangers sent Gilroy to AHL

It is reported that New York Rangers defenseman Matt Gilroy, who made the team in his first NHL training camp after a successful college career, was sent to the American Hockey League affiliate. Gilroy had 4 goals and 6 point in 30 games in his new york rangers jersey this season, but he doesn't have a point in his last four games.Gilroy also was beaten by Dustin Byfuglien on the game-winning goal.

Signing Gilroy last season was considered a major role for the Rangers. He was a highly sought after college free agent following four strong seasons at Boston University. He had 8 goals and 37 points in 45 games with the Terriers last season, and won the Hobey Baker Award as the NCAA's best player.

Rick DiPietro will miss his start

It is reported that New York Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro will miss his scheduled start for the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers after experiencing tightness during a game in Springfield last week. DiPietro removed himself from the game after the second period.

"Ricky has been seen by the team doctors and most recently a specialist," Islanders GM Garth Snow said on the team's Web site. "To make sure we are taking the proper steps in his rehabilitation, we will seek an additional opinion and should have a timeline by the end of the week." The Islanders hoped DiPietro would be back in his islanders jersey with the big club by the weekend.

Nazem Kadri is sent to Ontario Hockey League

President and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs Brian Burke announced that the club has reduced their training camp roster by four players. They have returned forward Nazem Kadri to the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League, assigned forward Christian Hanson and defenceman Jonas Frogren to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, and released defenceman Andy Rogers.

Kadri has played in six preseason games for the Maple Leafs, collecting three goals and two assists. In the preseason Hanson registered one goal and two assists in six games, while Frogren recorded six penalty minutes in three games, and Rogers collected 25 PIM in four games.

Islanders' Pascal Morency may be suspended

The National Hockey League suspended New York Islanders rookie forward Pascal Morency on Friday for jumping off the bench to fight Calgary's Dion Phaneuf on Thursday night. He will not be albe to play until a hearing is held.

Morency has never played an NHL game, spending the last two seasons with the Islanders' AHL affiliate in Bridgeport. He received a double minor for leaving the players' bench for the purpose of starting a quarrel.

Matt D'Agostini joins in Canadiens

Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey told the media that the signing of forward Matt D’Agostini to a one-year contract has been confirmed.In 2006-07 in his first season D’Agostini won the Calder Cup with the Bulldogs. He registered 13 points in 22 AHL playoff contests.

Last season D’Agostini got 21 points with the Canadiens. The 22-year-old player was the AHL’s third scorer with 25 points and a plus-7 rating in 20 games when he joined in the Canadiens from the Hamilton Bulldogs. D’Agostini also made his NHL performance in 2008-09.
